Silversea Cruises has promoted Tom Russell to the position of COO and managing director of the luxury cruise company's Fort Lauderdale office. Russell, who previously held the position of senior vice president of product development for Silversea, will now be responsible for overseeing revenue performance, information technology and strategic marketing. Russell will also continue to direct the development of the line's new luxury expedition product, World Discoverer, a ship Silversea acquired back in September.

Silversea's president, Amerigo Perasso, praised Russell's commitment to the line and his role in helping it expand. Russell is an industry veteran having been a member of Silversea's founding executive team in 1992. In 1996, Russell left Silversea and worked for a variety of adventure cruise lines such as Cruise West and Society Expeditions (the now defunct line that World Discoverer use to sail for). Russell rejoined Silversea in October of this year. (DE)
