With Spring Break travel season almost upon us, Booking.com has released a new report on the latest Spring Break travel trends. Where are travelers headed? Based on booking data, here’s a list of the top trending destinations this year:

  • Big Bear Lake, California
  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • Moab, Utah
  • Newport, Rhode Island
  • South Lake Tahoe, California
  • Tulum, Mexico

Although Booking.com's data shows that Spring Break (March 18 - April 30) will be 2 percent more expensive than last year, there are a few popular destinations that stood out as being slightly less expensive throughout the six week travel period: Atlantic City (11% cheaper), New Orleans (8% cheaper), Miami Beach (4% cheaper) and Tampa (9% cheaper).

  • Panama City Beach, Florida: 21 percent cheaper
  • Miami, Florida: 19 percent cheaper

Week of March 25 - 31  

  • Virginia Beach, Virginia: 19 percent cheaper
  • Playa del Carmen, Mexico: 16 percent cheaper
  • South Padre Island, Texas: 13 percent cheaper

Week of April 1 - 7 

  • Santa Cruz, California: 31 percent cheaper
  • Cancún, Mexico: 22 percent cheaper
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: 13 percent cheaper
  • Santa Barbara, California: 12 percent cheaper

Week of April 8 - 14  

  • Tampa, Florida: 18 percent cheaper

Reno, Nevada: 58 percent cheaper
