Travel Leaders Launches Consumer Promotion Using Social Media

Travel Leaders has launched "Pursuit of Paradise," a social media consumer marketing promotion that kicked off in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. Using social media, an online treasure hunt and its affiliation with food expert Andrew Zimmern, Travel Leaders will give away a gourmet trip to Mexico this fall to the winners. The promotion is designed to showcase the expertise of Travel Leaders agents.

Travel Leaders’ "Pursuit of Paradise" will offer clues via Facebook, Twitter and other social media portals. The clues will ultimately lead game-players to the hidden trip for two – which will be located somewhere in the Twin Cities.

“I have accumulated so many frequent flyer miles that I decided to give some of them away in a creative way,” said Zimmern, who hosts the Travel Channel’s popular “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.” “Knowing how much I love to travel and explore different locations, I want to give them to someone who has a sense of adventure, a love of travel and a passion for the Twin Cities metro area.”

The reward for the participant who interprets the clues and finds the prize will be a Mexico vacation package from Travel Leaders and Funjet Vacations. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare and stay at the El Dorado Seaside Suites by Karisma in the Mayan Riviera. The seven-day excursion features an all-inclusive gourmet food menu available 24-hours a day during the trip.

Zimmern and Travel Leaders will provide online clues throughout the month of September that will lead to the location of the travel prize package. Some clues will be uncovered when players correctly answer trivia questions about the Twin Cities. More details about the contest, and the actual clues, are available at www.paradisepursuit.com, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ParadisePursuit and Twitter at www.twitter.com/ParadisePursuit.

The first trivia question of the Pursuit will be: “In what city was Andrew Zimmern born?” (hint: it’s not in Minnesota).

“Adventure travel doesn’t always have to take place thousands of miles away from home. Travel Leaders’ Pursuit of Paradise treasure hunt is a great way for local residents to get to know more about the Twin Cities,” noted Roger E. Block, president of Travel Leaders Franchise Group. “The more they learn and the more clues they uncover, the closer they will be to an international vacation retreat.”

There will be a version of this in the Milwaukee-area next month.
