Travelport GDS Launches New Tool

Travel agents and hoteliers will benefit from the Travelport GDS launch of Featured Property priority placement, now available for the first time on the Worldspan system. The advertising option allows hotels and resorts to improve placement in search results and promote their property during the booking process as travel agents look to find hotels in specific locations on the Worldspan and Galileo systems.

“During these challenging times it is more important than ever to utilize all means possible to improve placement in search results, increase bookings and generate incremental revenue,” said Travis Christ, president and managing director of the Americas, Travelport GDS.  “We’ve seen the appeal of spending advertising dollars on a vehicle like Featured Property priority placement jump because it’s very targeted to ‘eyeballs’ that are booking room nights for those who are actually traveling."

Featured Property priority placement provides hoteliers with the ability to place information about their hotels in an ideal spot when travel agents are looking to book within a specific region. From a travel agent booking process perspective, this amounts to placing items at the coveted eye level spot on grocery store shelves. Realizing the value of a new opportunity to increase room nights, more than 1,000 properties have already enrolled during the pre-selling phase.

Travelport GDS has 63,000 travel agency locations globally booking 20 million hotel room nights annually on its travel booking platform. Featured Property priority placements, previously available on the Galileo system and now on the Worldspan system, provides hotels and resorts the opportunity to improve placement in search results and raise their brand awareness in the market.
