TUI Buys Luxury Adventure Company

TUI Travel has acquired Starquest Expeditions, a Seattle-based luxury travel adventure company that predominantly offers tours by private jet at an average ticket price of around $50,000 per passenger. The company, started in 2003, will continue to operate under its own management team. The acquisition underscores TUI Travel's growing activity sector. "This is a tremendous opportunity to increase our presence in what is a key market for us," said John Wimbleton, managing director of TUI Travel Activity Sector. "We have stated strategy of increasing our portfolio of specialist niche businesses and the acquisition of Starquest, which has substantial growth opportunities, gives us a significant leadership position in the U.S. private jet adventure market."
