Tzell Launches Special Desk to Handle Last-Minute Holiday Travel

With a busy Thanksgiving and holiday travel season upon us, Tzell Travel has set up a special “Festive Desk” to help Tzell travel advisors secure last-minute holiday bookings. An offshoot of the agency’s Leisure Team, the Festive Desk works with Tzell’s supplier partners to keep track of holiday availability, especially at hotels and resorts, to help Tzell advisors meet their clients’ last-minute travel needs.

“We know that every holiday season rooms fill up quickly, particularly at luxury properties, so Tzell’s leisure team decided to get ahead of the demand this year by doing some of the legwork and research for our advisors,” Tzell President Cindy Schlansky tells Travel Agent. “Across the board we’ve been seeing our leisure clients booking closer and closer to their travel dates. This creates a challenge for our advisors who are often looking to book very exclusive luxury properties for their clients.”

How it works: Tzell has set up a special email address where advisors can contact the Festive Desk with questions. The desk maintains a spreadsheet of availability that is updated by the minute.

For example, on November 6 a Tzell client inquired about a last-minute holiday trip to an adults-only resort in Mexico for the days between Christmas and New Year’s. The Festive Desk was able to send the client’s advisor several suggestions based on availability, and the trip was booked a week later.

“I was able to book those clients at Unico and they are very excited as it is a new property and their all-inclusives are the best that I have ever seen,” says Susan Fisch, a Tzell advisor.

In terms of where clients are headed, Tzell reports that 90 percent of the agency’s North American clients are looking to book holiday travel to the Caribbean and Mexico, but the organization is seeing a bit of Hawaii and Costa Rica, as well.
