U.S. State Department Issues Worldwide Travel Alert

Following President Obama’s announcement that U.S. military forces have killed al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan on May 1, the U.S. Department of State has issued a worldwide travel alert for U.S. citizens traveling and living abroad, warning Americans to be cautious regarding anti-American violence.

The alert advises Americans staying in areas where there is a heightened probability of anti-American violence to “avoid mass gatherings and demonstrations,” as well as “limit their travel outside of their homes and hotels.”  The Travel Alert is valid through Aug. 1.
