Underkoffler Promoted to Senior VP of Aqua Hotels

Aqua Hotels and Resorts, which operates 10 hotels in Waikiki, has promoted Guy Underkoffler to senior vice president. He joined the company as controller in March 2003 when Aqua operated only two hotels, Aqua Waikiki Marina and Aqua Bamboo and Spa.

Underkoffler has drawn on his previous experience at Interstate Hotel Corporation and Starwood Hotels in converting and assessing the potential of newly acquired hotels to help initiate Aqua’s strategic growth plan. As a result, Aqua has added eight properties during Underkoffler’s tenure and earned the No. 8 ranking in a recent poll of the 50 fastest-growing companies in Hawaii.

Immediately prior to joining Aqua, Underkoffler was controller for the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, CA. He has also held management positions at Sheraton, Wyndham, Westin, Marriott and W Hotels. His new VP responsibilities run throughout the Aqua organization, with primary focus on product quality and integrity, customer satisfaction, owner relations, human resources, financial performance and business development.
