Uniglobe Travel Global Rendezvous Conference Concludes

Uniglobe Travel held its biennial Global Rendezvous event in Lisbon, Portugal, June 6-8, hosting 300-plus delegates and suppliers from 28 countries around the world. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Uniglobe has 700 locations in 30 countries and annual system-wide sales of C$2.7 billion.

"This conference was a great success due to the international makeup of our organization," said U. Gary Charlwood, chairman and CEO. "More than ever before we have the ability to take advantage of the great demand for travel and to weather economic cycles because we work together as one."

This year's conference was themed around the message, "One You, One World, One Uniglobe." Charlwood said the phrase captures the spirit in which Uniglobe agencies, as independently owned and operated travel management companies, work together to build relationships, share best practices, and create profitable solutions for today’s business challenges.

Highlights from the conference include the Franchise Owner of the Year award presented to John Burroughs of Uniglobe Preferred Travel, with offices in Brighton and London, England.

Top revenue awards for 2007 were given to Robert Vanderwallen, owner of Uniglobe, Robins Travel in Wilrijk, Belgium (Top Single Location) and William Hsu, owner of Uniglobe Geo Travel in Edmonton, Canada (Top Multiple Location). The Global Rendezvous Event is held every two years and is open to all Uniglobe agency owners and managers in the system.
