WTAAA Welcomes Brazil to Global Alliance

The World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) welcomed the Brazilian Association of Travel Agents (ABAV) as its newest member. ABAV joins seven other global travel association members of WTAAA, including the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).

Other members include the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations (ECTAA), Association of South African Travel Agents (ASATA), Travel Agency Federation of India (TAFI) and the Travel Agents' Association of New Zealand (TAANZ).
 
Peter Barlow, WTAAA chair commented: “The addition of ABAV, which is WTAAA’s first South American member, firmly establishes WTAAA as the global voice of the travel agency industry.”
 
"ABAV is likewise honored and pleased to accept WTAAA’s invitation to become a member,” said Antonio Azevedo, president of ABAV. “WTAAA’s goals are strategically aligned with our organization.”
 
ABAV, the Brazilian Association of Travel Agents, was founded in 1953 and has over 3.500 associated/member agencies, representing approximately 85 percent of all travel sales in Brazil. ABAV operates one of the largest tourism industry trade shows in South America that also goes by the name ABAV, which is now in its 40th year.
