The Sandals Foundation Officially Launches in St. Lucia

Following a year of tremendous success in Jamaica, the Sandals Foundation has now expanded its philanthropic reach to include the island of St. Lucia.

St. Lucia is the home of three Sandals Resorts: Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa & Beach Resort, Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Resort & Spa and Sandals Halcyon Beach St. Lucia.

The official launch was celebrated with a black-tie fundraiser gala, where President of the Board of Directors and Sandals Resorts International CEO, Adam Stewart, urged those with influence and power to band together to alleviate some of the social and economic woes in the region.

“Governments alone cannot do everything in a region with very limited resources. We as business people need to play our part and give back to this wonderful region that has been good to all of us,” noted Stewart.

The gala also served as a fundraising effort for the Children’s Literacy Action Program (C.L.A.P.), a foundation that promotes education in impoverished areas of St. Lucia. The event raised $26,000, which will go directly into funding the purchase of a Community Center in Marchand Boulevard, and will also serve as the headquarters for C.L.A.P.

Although the Sandals Foundation only just officially launched on the island, the organization has been present in St. Lucia throughout the course of Sandals Resorts’ 17-year history there.
