In Aqaba, Jordan, a Hyatt Hotels Corporation affiliate has entered into an agreement with Ayla Oasis Development Company (AODC) to develop a 286-room Hyatt Regency hotel.
The Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla will be the first hotel to open within the Ayla development, a master-planned, multiphase project on the northern shores of Aqaba. When it opens in 2018, the hotel will be the second Hyatt hotel in Jordan, following the Grand Hyatt Amman.
Ayla Oasis Development Company was established in 2003 to develop the Ayla project and is working to make the Aqaba seaport into a business hub and travel destination. In a statement, Sahl Dudin, managing director of AODC, called the hotel signing a “crucial step" in Aqaba's development.
