Often Austin is the main city that chic Millennials head to in Texas, but Dallas has just as many trendy attractions to check out. These are the must sees that can be fit into a quick business trip or a longer vacation.

Jennifer Wasserman, a local of Dallas for more than 33 years and the director of sales and marketing at the Highland Dallas, suggests visitors head to these hangouts.

Bishop Arts District: Wasserman calls this area a “hidden gem,” which is filled with fun eateries like the Dallas Grilled Cheese Co and Emporium Pies (the best pies in Dallas). Also, hopes in this area celebrate monthly Wine Walk, where the stores are open late and serve wine.

Highland Park Village: Dallas’ posh shopping area is in the center of the beautiful neighborhood of Highland Park. Tip: This is the place to purchase the latest designer couture. Wasserman also suggests sipping a Mambo Taxi margarita at Mi Cocina to complete the experience.

The Rustic: For a taste of country music fame, Wasserman tells Millennials to dine at The Rustic, since it is owned by country singer and resident Texan Pat Green. This spot is popular with both locals and visitors. The food is farm fresh, and we hear that there is live music on the patio throughout the week. Note: Cowboy boots aren’t required.

Need a place to stay? The Highland Dallas is just putting the finishing touches on the first phase of a major renovation. We suggest guests make time to spend an afternoon at the rooftop pool, as Dallas weather rarely disappoints. The pool is located off the second floor and offers an exclusive feel, it’s just for guests.

For dinner, stay at the hotel and order a steak in Knife Restaurant, because the Highland boasts one of the only two dry age rooms in Dallas. And don’t forget that the Dallas International Film Festival runs April 14 to April 24, and the Highland Dallas will host a range of events for the festival.

We also know Millennials will enjoy fun ways to see the city. We spoke with Dallas guru Steve Harris, the director of operations for Strong Travel Services, who gave us some insider tips on how to see the city in a new way.

Harris suggests Millennials book a ride on The Buzz Bike. It’s a 16-passenger bike that also functions as a pub. Guests will pedal around the city sightseeing while enjoying a drink or two. Another way to get around the city is on the historic McKinney Avenue trolley. This traditional trolley offers free rides in downtown Dallas. Best part? This trolley runs all year round, so you can’t miss it.
