Sightings: Signature Travel Network's Owners' Meeting (SLIDESHOW)

Signature Travel Network recently concluded its annual Owners' Meeting. Here's a look at the event:

During the event the organization made several key announcements. Most notable was Signature's decision to require its members to belong to the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), effective Jan. 1. At the time Signature president and CEO Alex Sharpe noted ASTA’s advocacy role was critical in his decision to mandate membership. He called ASTA an “insurance policy” for his members, saying, “Belonging to ASTA is like outsourcing legal and regulatory consultants. We simply wouldn’t survive in this business without the work that ASTA does on our behalf.”

Signature also elected its new Board of Directors for 2014-2015 during the Owners' Meeting. Paul Coleman and Don Walker are newly elected to the Board, while Cathie Lentz Fryer, Olga Placeres and Craig Hsu are re-elected members of the Board.

Finally, the organization welcomed nine new members. Signature now includes 195 member agencies with 442 retail locations throughout USA and Canada.
