Montage Deer Valley

Within five minutes of Main Street (literally Main Street) in Park City, UT, is Montage Deer Valley, a luxury ski-in, ski-out resort that won’t open until December, but is already getting a lot of attention.

In June, luxury consortia Virtuoso added the 220-key property to its Virtuoso Preview group, an exclusive program for marketing and networking of select up-and-coming hotels featuring The Chatwal New York, the Armani Dubai and the St. Regis Bahia Beach-Puerto Rico.

On top of that, Robert Redford gave the Montage Deer Valley his thumbs-up this month. The property has just been selected as an official provider for the “2011 Sundance Film Festival: An Artist at the Table.” An intimate crowd of guests and artists will gather at the Montage Deer Valley for a festive pre-film cocktail reception.

Sitting on an 8,300-foot perch near the Empire Canyon’s summit with views of the peaks of the Wasatch Front, the resort is within a 40-minute drive from the Salt Lake City International Airport. The property will have 154 guest rooms and 66 suites, and each room will have a gas fireplace and either mountain or valley views.

This summer, Montage Deer Valley announced that the resort will also have 81 private residences, sitting right on top of the property. One- to four-bedroom configurations at the new Montage Residences Deer Valley will range from 1,200 to 6,900 square feet, accompanied by 24-hour amenities and services that include a residential concierge staff, who will store and ready all ski equipment, warm boots and arrange lift tickets and lessons for guests. A three-bedroom furnished model residence is now available for viewing.

“Many of the private residences will be fully integrated in our rental program,” says Christopher Hamaway, director of sales and marketing for Montage Deer Valley. He added that agents will be able to book these units through all major distribution channels, whether using GDS, tour operators or online travel agencies.

The property’s signature dining will be available in two venues. Other highlights include outdoor pool and whirlpools; outdoor terrace and fire pits; a gastropub with bowling lanes, billiards, darts room and vintage games; and retail shops and heated underground parking. It will also be home to a 35,000-square-foot spa plus 17,000 feet of event space for executive meetings, weddings and special events.

While attending a luncheon with representatives of Deer Valley Resort this summer, Travel Agent also learned about a cool amenity or two planned for the property—like an onsite beekeeper and growing its own hops to brew some local beers.
