Whistler is gearing up for its spring events season. From TED's 30th anniversary to exciting spring ski and snowboard races, Travel Agent rounds up top activities to draw clients to the destination.

Showcase Showdown - The latest installment in the longest-running Canadian snowboard competition, the 17th annual Snowcase Showdown, will return March 14 to 15. This year will be the first time the event expands to two days, and the top three male snowboarders in the pro category will also qualify for the Shred Show taking place during the World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

TEDActive 2014: The Next Chapter - TED celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2014, and the theme for TEDActive, which runs March 17-21, will be "The Next Chapter." This event allows attendees to rediscover their latent creativity with workshops to learn to use tools or by leading their own workshops on subjects like bike repair, hacking, sculpting in cardboard, 3D printing, homebrewing beer and more.

Canadian Alpine Championships - From March 19 to March 26, visitors to Whistler will have the chance to get an up close look at downhill ski racing.

For Canadian team members, winning the national championship carries prestige, but for aspiring World Cup competitors, performing well at the championship offers an opportunity to increase their International Ski Federation (FIS) points and can also be a stepping stone to the national team. Canadian championship rankings are also an important bench-marking tool for athletes.
