On June 3, Cruise West kicked off their most ambitious adventure, Voyages of the Great Explorers with a launch event at the Explorers Club in New York City.
Chairman and Managing Director Dick West and President and CEO Dietmar Wertanzl presented the new concept to more than 70 journalists and travel agents in attendance.
But the highlight of the evening for one lucky attendee was the grand prize drawing for a suite on one of the distinct voyages comprising the year long global adventure. Maureen Stevenson, manager for AAA Travel New York City, will be one of the 120 passengers aboard Cruise West’s flagship, the Spirit of Oceanus for part of it's epic journey.
Following the route of history’s great sea explorers whose travels shaped much of the known and the new world set the theme for Voyages of the Great Explorers, a 335-day circumnavigation of the world. Departing from Singapore on March 6, 2010, the Spirit of Oceanus will sail westward, following the sun, to return to Singapore on February 3, 2011.
Cruise West explorers can purchase individual voyages, sets of multiple voyages or the full circumnavigation. Prices per voyage start at $4,995 (US dollars) and include a hotel night pre-cruise.
