Sofitel’s newly opened Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Huaghe is a resort style hotel in the Sheshan National Tourism Resort, a 35-minute drive from Shanghai city center. The 368-room hotel seeks to appeal to both leisure and business travelers, although it’s going heavily after the meetings market. The hotel has 12 reception rooms and a grand ballroom that can host up to 900 guests seated in banquet style.
The rooms and suites all have private balconies, a pillow menu, L’Occitane and Hermes room amenities and free broadband Internet access. The interior designer, Cheng Chung Design, from Hong Kong, has created three different room themes: Mediterranean, Chinese and Southeast Asian, each giving guests a choice in their preferred style of surroundings. Included in the room count are 53 Luxury Suites, an Imperial Suite and seven luxury villas.
The hotel has four restaurants and three bars, including M, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, and Fukami Restaurant, which specializes in Japanese dishes. The hotel’s So Spa has 15 treatment rooms. Leisure activities include a health club, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, an indoor golf driving range, an outdoor mini golf and a night club.
