Southwest Airlines has extended an offer to allow customers holding reservations Wednesday, July 20 through Tuesday, July 26, may alter their travel plans and rebook in the original class of service or travel standby within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs, Southwest said in a statement on its website. Customers who purchased their itinerary online or via the airline’s mobile app can reschedule their travel plans online or from their mobile device, while other customers can call 1-800-435-9792. Customers in the U.S. traveling internationally must call 1-800-435-9792.
Customers holding reservations for a cancelled flight may also request a refund for an unused ticket or travel itinerary, Southwest said.
According to USA Today, more than 250 flights were cancelled Friday due to a technical glitch that first surfaced Wednesday that knocked out the airline’s website and delayed flights around the country Wednesday afternoon and evening. More flight disruptions are expected today, and as of press time Southwest was reporting high volumes on its reservation lines.
