Anna Clara Lee of Valerie Wilson Travel started 2020 with a focus on group and corporate travel, but as the pandemic ensued, she expanded her scope to include U.S. travel, and international trips as soon as they become possible.

“Family travel is booming, as we are almost all able to work or participate in school online,” says Lee. “My Millennial-aged friends are traveling domestically, from a weekend getaway in Savannah to month-long change of scenery in Denver.”

Lee’s education includes a Hospitality Management degree and internships in the restaurant and event planning industries. Winning the Strong Travel Award provided her with a trip to Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas, and an internship. Once at Valerie Wilson Travel, she hit the ground running. “[During] my first week, I was tasked with [planning] small group trips to cities such as Paris, Amsterdam and Florence [that] focused on the art, architecture, food, fashion and cultural scene of each destination,” says Lee. “The hotel selection process came first, followed by contract negotiations and deposits. We then built the budget, incorporating all fixed and variable costs and followed with cancellation schedules and terms and conditions. The itinerary-building process was lengthy and required much attention to detail, however, [it] was an integral part in marketing our trips.”

Lee hasn’t stopped educating herself over the past few months with webinars and even online learning at Cornell.

“Anna Clara’s attention to detail, expertise, and overall professionalism are qualities that make her shine, but more importantly she brings an amazing energy to the VWT community,” says Kimberly Wilson Wetty, VWT co-president & owner. “She is positive, open-minded, intellectually curious, and likeable. Her peers have only complimentary things to say about her and our clients respond positively to her, as well.”
