Corey Hargarther, 30
Ponte Vedra, FL
Corey Hargarther of Dream Vacations is a second-generation travel advisor, working for a family-owned Dream Vacations franchise, but he’s most certainly set his own path. During his first three years as an advisor, his gross sales have totaled nearly $1.5 million and his sales volume is in the 95th percentile within the entire Dream Vacations network.
He started out with a strong knowledge of the cruise industry, having sailed on more than 30 cruises before he even joined the business. Since then, he’s diversified the agency’s business model by adding Millennials to its client base.
In fact, more than 25 percent of Hargarther’s clients are now Millennials.
“This is important to the future of the agency because the repeat booking rate among this age group is very high and they are very loyal,” says Hargarther. “Having loyal clients in their 20s and 30s means I have a steady base of clients for the next 30 to 40 years.” And while he says the common assumption is that Millennials take shorter and less expensive getaways, his individual booking trends indicate the contrary to be true.
Hargarther’s education was in finance and business and he worked as a compliance analyst at Bank of America. He joined the family travel business because he wanted a career that allowed for flexibility and creativity. He’s still using all of his skills and knowledge from the past, however.
“As a student of finance, I recognize that it costs five times more to acquire a new client versus retaining an existing one,” he says. For that reason, during COVID, he’s worked with his clients to plan their vacations farther in advance, with a wide range of trips already on the books for Q2 and Q3 of 2021. “These are for clients who typically plan their trips no more than six months in advance, most also travel with friends and family, several of whom have been referred as new clients,” he says.
“Corey has created his own niche in travel and as one of the highest-performing associates in all of Dream Vacations, he has taken an already top travel agency to even greater levels of success,” says Debbie Fiorino, COO of Dream Vacations.
