For Razzle-Dazzle Technology for Guests

Adeptly bridging past and future is Jan Swartz who was promoted in 2016 to group president, Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, responsible for shared services for Carnival Corporation and executive oversight of P&O Cruises Australia. At Princess, she oversees an 18-ship operation with 28,000+ employees/crew worldwide who host 1.8 million guests annually. Her proactivity to volunteer resulted in Princess being the test/launch brand for Carnival Corporation’s proprietary Ocean Medallion technology.

Achievements? Swartz can point to the Caribbean Princess as the first ship on which that razzle-dazzle technology is now available to every guest. Cruisers can order drinks to be delivered at a particular time, open their stateroom door effortlessly, track their children onboard and much more. Ocean Medallion is also being introduced to other Princess, and ultimately, other Carnival Corp. brand ships.

Technology aside, Swartz has also not overlooked the line’s beloved “Love Boat” past. Instead, she effectively taps into that when appropriate. Guests still love reminiscing about the show and meeting the cast at events. It’s still shown in syndication in 93 countries. This year Princess and the entire “Love Boat” cast were honored with a “star plaque” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Swartz is also a trade-friendly executive, having developed travel agent educational programs and business building tools.
