It’s said that former teachers are life-long learners, and Jennifer Ruk fits the bill perfectly. She’s transitioned from elementary school teacher to stay-at-home mom to successful agent with 10 years under her belt.

“Shortly after beginning my career as a travel agent I decided to learn about various destinations and travel products in depth. This has given me the knowledge to help clients experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities throughout the world,” says Ruk.

Ruk’s client list includes politicians, entrepreneurs, corporate executives and artists.

Specializing in family travel, honeymoons, Europe and New Zealand, her annual bookings come close to the $2 million mark.

“I view the education of travel as an enriching life experience. Providing memories for clients and families is what keeps me engaged in the travel industry,” says Ruk.

She’s also known for pulling off feats that might overwhelm other agents. Jim Strong, president of the Virtuoso-member agency, cites one example.

“Jennifer was faced with a last-minute family trip to New Zealand for the Festive Season. The client wanted the must-see hot spots and the finest properties. After extensive work, she created an itinerary with stays at five-star properties and bucket-list activities. The family enjoyed private dinners, wine tastings and incredible cultural experiences. She was also able to save the day with a last-minute loss of a passport on the day of travel,” says Strong.

It’s all in a day’s work for Ruk, who also takes community involvement seriously. She’s an active member of several local philanthropic organizations.

Always interested in new trends, Ruk is excited about the role bloggers and influencers are playing in travel. She also keeps an eye out for fabulous new properties. One she recommends is The Ned in London

“It’s sure to become an icon. The roof top is not to be missed with its beautiful pool and view of St. Paul’s Cathedral,” she says.
