Travel Agent recognizes Josh Leibowitz, senior vice president of Cunard North America and chief strategy officer for Carnival Corporation, for his innovation in improving processes and tools for both travel advisors and consumers, as well as efforts to help shape the future of Cunard’s fleet, including its new ship debuting in 2022.
Top accomplishments? Leibowitz brought a new Web platform to Cunard globally, which has improved the online experience for trade partners and consumers. He’s enhanced Cunard’s trade sales support — assuring that the line is supplying partners with “the right” marketing plans, tools and sales strategies. Most notably, he’s developed an advanced revenue management and inventory tool to help Cunard maximize yields, and that’s also helping drive higher agent commissions.
Leibowitz and his team also continue to adeptly balance the draw of Cunard’s storied heritage with the enticement of a more modern product that can woo today’s consumers. Case in point? Filming for a new movie by Oscar winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh took place during a Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing last summer.
The movie stars Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, Gemma Chan, Lucas Hedges and Dianne Wiest, and, to some extent, the QM2 herself. So, when the flick appears on the new HBO Max streaming platform offered by WarnerMedia, once again a Cunard liner is likely to generate significant public “buzz,” something the line has done impeccably well since 1840.
