Kalia Wright, 25
A worldwide travel designer with AAA, Kalia Wright started in the travel industry fresh out of high school. It was her love for travel and desire to learn new things that led her to become a travel advisor.
At AAA Carolinas, she has achieved the AAA Exceeder designation, which is given to those who hit and maintain an average bank of $200,000 or more in commissions for a year-long period. She also graduated from a company program called “Build Your Business” at the top of a group of 30 others.
During COVID, she has been learning new strategies and adopting the “new way of life.” She has also been flexible and has constantly been looking for new training opportunities.
Wright says her clients have started traveling again, with most of them falling in the age range of 25 to 65 years and focused on traveling within the U.S.
When asked about the most challenging trip that she has ever planned, she says it was for a client who wanted to spend three weeks in South America, but knew nothing about it. He only had a list of destinations and knew that he wanted to travel with his wife and another couple. Wright and her team spent hours going through their likes and dislikes to build the perfect itinerary. In the end, they decided to stay four weeks just to see everything on their list. Kalia and her team planned every day of those four weeks, including some reservations for hikes, meals, and tours.
Praising Wright’s ability to connect and build long-lasting relationships with clients, Susan Ledford, assistant vice president of travel operations at AAA Carolinas, says, “In the past six years, Kalia has not only learned the intricacies of the travel industry, she has also developed a loyal client base and is a top producer with over $1.6 million in sales.”
