Madison McClure, 26
Small World Travel, an Affiliate of Brownell Travel
San Francisco, CA
After graduating from Colgate University, Madison McClure worked in finance in New York City as an acquisitions analyst at a small real estate investment company. She went to work at Small World Travel in 2018, which her mother, Sam McClure, founded in 1999 when she realized her passion was in the travel industry. However, she still uses her data and analytic skills to plan complicated itineraries for the agency’s clients. “Around-the-world trips can be like putting together a 5,000-piece puzzle and requires an unflinching attention to detail,” says McClure. “As our agency has grown, I have also put my finance experience into play to help with business management and development.”
In her first year at the agency, revenues grew by 25 percent; in 2019, they went up another 30-plus percent, which made Small World Travel the first independent contractor team at Brownell with sales over $10 million. Both years, the agency received sales recognition rewards for the largest year-over-year revenue increase, and in 2018 and 2019, McClure was recognized with Brownell’s prestigious 1887 Award as a top producer with individual sales over $2.5 million.
“There are rising stars and then there is Madison,” says Meg McGriff North, owner and executive vice president of Brownell. “She is a once-in-a-generation talent with an Ivy League approach to travel design and service. It must be in the genes!”
McClure recently moved to San Francisco and has been driving along the California coastline to develop great road trips for clients. “As a company, we have also taken this time to focus on internal projects and remember why we started doing this in the first place. One of our core values is making the most of the educational opportunities that come with family travel, paired with our new and renewed focus on more sustainable travel.”
