Mark Conroy, managing director for The Americas, Silversea Cruises

For Milestone After Milestone

In the two years since Mark Conroy joined Silversea Cruises in its Miami office as managing director for The Americas, he’s added travel agent programs, overhauled the reservations department, added more reservations agents and fostered technology solutions, all while assuring the line remains a top-of-the-industry, ultra-luxury player. This year, though, was one of the most memorable for Conroy, who celebrated several key brand milestones with industry officials, media and travel agents. In spring, he witnessed the splitting and lengthening of Silver Spirit — with a 49-foot-mid-section added — at a Palermo, Sicily shipyard, and in summer, he commemorated the 10-year anniversary of Silversea Expeditions on a London-to-Dublin cruise on Silver Cloud Expedition

And, of course, he witnessed Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.’s purchase of a 67 percent stake in Silversea this year, followed by a new ship order. With more than 40 years in the travel and hospitality industry, Conroy brings a wealth of senior executive experience within the luxury sector and was inducted into CLIA’s Cruise Industry Hall of Fame in 2013. Conroy’s team keeps humming along as the line reports record bookings for its 2020 World Cruise.
