For New Flexible Choices
To the upbeat tune of “Come on Eileen,” a new TV commercial beckons travelers onboard Avalon Waterways’ river vessels. The breezy tune reflects both the breezy style of an Avalon cruise and the exuberant personality of its leader, Pam Hoffee, the river line’s managing director. The new campaign advocates the “kick back and relax” approach to exploring with plenty of choices based on the guest’s travel style.
Under Hoffee’s tutelage, the new Avalon Choice program also continues to expand — allowing guests to select from “Classic,” “Discovery” and “Active” excursions, whether travelers want to take a guided walking tour through a European city, join a cooking class or paddle a canoe. For independently minded explorers, Avalon has created an Adventure Center and AvalonGO mobile app. And when it’s time to re-fuel, Avalon’s new FlexDining program gives choices for those seeking less structure on a river cruise.
Themed cruises also allow guests to indulge their personal passions on a cruise, whether that’s photography, culinary or an author-focused cruise. Also, the line’s Suite Ships offer two full decks of Panorama Suites, beloved for “beds that face the view” and their wide opening, floor-to-ceiling glass that slides aside to create an interior balcony.
After many years leading product and operations for the Globus family of brands, last year Hoffee became both Globus’ COO and managing director for Avalon Waterways. Her down-to-earth style is reflected not only in the new ad campaign, but also such sales events as last summer’s “You Snooze, You Don’t Cruise” with incentives for consumers and agents alike.
