Sarah Attaway has been a travel advisor for nearly four years and intends to stay in this business until she retires. Her intended vocation was law but instead of attending graduate school to follow that path, she opted to move abroad for a year to teach English in Hanoi, Vietnam, where she immersed herself in the country’s culture. She says the career as a travel advisor “found her” when her parents visited her in Vietnam and they took off to enjoy a two-week itinerary that had been created by a Virtuoso travel advisor. She was hooked and when she returned home at the end of 2016, she dove into finding a way into the business. “During this pursuit, I came to understand that the industry offers a career that is engaging, dynamic, people-oriented and would allow me to always keep learning,” says Attaway.
“It’s also a career that is profitable and enables me to be respected as a professional business owner. Through my partnership with Cadence as my host agency, I discovered the absolute best way to fulfill that desire and provide my clients with the upmost in expertise, service, value, and access. My partnership with Cadence also gifted me an amazing community of like-minded entrepreneurs from whom I am learning to elevate my business,” says Attaway.
Wendy Burk, CEO of Cadence, says that Attaway “generates leads masterfully [through consistent, clever and clear communication via email and social media], filters prospective clients effectively [through well-designed intake forms and transparent pricing], and walks the talk [traveling extensively for both personal and familiarization purposes]. Sarah has all of the destination expertise and relationship-building skills of leisure legends, plus the technical savviness of a Millennial marketing professional.”
