Sarah Brook Austin, 27
Currie & Co. Travels Unlimited
Sarah Brook Austin was drawn to Currie & Co. Travels Unlimited several times. In 2007, she traveled with Betty Jo Currie, the agency’s owner, with a large group on a safari. She couldn’t get the trip out of her mind and 10 years later, after getting her MBA, contacted Currie for a job at the boutique agency, which emphasizes adventure and luxury travel. After just two years Austin’s father asked her to come work with him at his real estate investment trust as VP of investor relations & marketing. After three years, Austin realized she couldn’t get travel out of her mind and rejoined Currie & Co. in January 2020 as managing partner. One of her first feats was working with Currie on an uber-luxury trip to India for four couples; working through cancelling the trip was equally complex once COVID-19 became a reality.
During the past few months, Austin has been “working hard as though I am making money! This year has been challenging for everyone in our industry, but our company will see positive results from switching CRM providers and booking engines, focusing on client outreach and education, and refining our accounting systems. I’m optimistic that the travel industry will be on fire at the end of the pandemic and that people will travel again — the pent-up demand is enormous.” Austin has been traveling domestically over the past few months and posting hotel reviews on social media, with an emphasis on outdoor activities. Next up is St. Barth’s and the soon to open One&Only Mandarina.
