With responsibility for sales growth and targets, Scott Knutson, vice president – sales and marketing, Costa Cruises North America, a 34-year travel industry veteran, appreciates skilled professional travel agents. To help fill Costa’s growing fleet of ships sailing across the globe, Knutson was instrumental in recently launching a redesigned portal, www.CostaExtra.com, exclusively for travel professionals in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.
Knutson’s goal was a go-to hub allowing agents to more easily find and learn about “everything Costa,” Carnival Corporation’s Italian brand. The hub’s well-organized home page has a navigational tool bar with four main tabs, a convenient cruise finder, the latest news and videos, a downloadable content search, access to Costa Academy and quick links for simple Costa Extra navigation.
Using the Booking Tools section, travel agents can make and manage cruise and excursion reservations for individuals or groups, handle Web check-in, search for travel documents and link to the agent-specific Costa help desk. In the Group section, they can request group trip invoices, and, with just a few clicks in the Marketing Box, advisors can custom design brochures, flyers, newsletters, vouchers and social media posts.
Fostered by Knutson and supported by Ruben Perez, Costa’s general manager for North America, the new trade hub comes at an opportune time as Costa looks to the delivery of Costa Firenze in 2020 and two LNG-powered ships later this year and in 2021.
