Shane Klaver, 29
New Horizons Travel
After graduating with a degree in Travel & Hospitality Management and Business from AIB College of Business in Des Moines, IA, Shane Klaver landed an internship with New Horizons Travel. From there, he jump-started his career as a travel advisor.
Travelers, as individuals, have attributes that influence their decisions; and for some, a thirst for excitement is one of them. Klaver recently planned an extensive honeymoon to Australia for clients looking to have some fun.
“They wanted experiences that were off the beaten path,” Klaver says. “This required several moving parts including several flights, authentic experiences and hotel stays. With my industry connections I was able to pull off the trip. I even set up a shark cage diving experience for [them].”
Klaver loves getting to know his clients, like the honeymooners, and creating personalized vacations for them. For him, the fun comes from the variety. No one trip is ever created the same.
“He can design an itinerary for anyone and we get wonderful feedback from his clients,” says Aaron Groves, CTC, New Horizons’s Iowa branch manager. Indeed, Klaver has 100 percent recommended reviews on his Travel Leaders profile. He is also a Hawaii Destination Specialist and was featured in a published article about Hawaii Island.
Reaching out to clients for testimonials and reviews has been fruitful for Klaver, whose efforts have been profitable. “Showcasing my reviews and testimonials on my profile [has given] clients … more confidence to work with me and ultimately generates more leads and referrals,” Klaver says.
