Steven Roeser, 29
Travel 100 Group
In his own words, Travel 100 Group’s Steven Roeser is “an office mutt. I spend 50 percent of my time working in accounting, helping to maintain an office of 80 agents and supporting their needs with invoicing, commission tracking, balancing ARC (Airline Reporting Corporation), payables, receivables, etc. The other 50 percent is divided between corporate group travel with Northwestern University and leisure / business travel for my own group of clients.” Rose Wylie, his manager, calls Roeser a sponge — for the way he soaks up knowledge.
“In his few years with Travel 100 Group, [he] has absorbed a wide breadth of knowledge,” she says. “He has done well tackling new requests for destinations he’s not familiar with. He never says no or can’t.” Wylie also describes him as “courteous and charming and eager to help clients or co-workers.”
Roeser tells us that his favorite challenge is “to take on the walk-in client. Other agents may be hesitant to deal with new prospects but I am eager to gain the knowledge and experience, spread my love of travel, and ultimately make new friends/clients for life.” He recently tackled two separate walk-in customers who have ended up being “clients for life … spending tens of thousands of dollars, bringing our office a nice healthy commission.”
While Roeser has not yet accumulated any industry awards, until his selection for Travel Agent’s 30Under30 Class of 2019, he is proud of “the many client e-mails and phone calls that I have received thanking me for making their travel process easy and for creating unforgettable memories. The major rewards I have received are personal satisfaction and knowing I have made someone’s dream trip come true or helped them plan the best possible trip.”
