Nepal is trending with travelers this year since it has recovered from the earthquakes it suffered in 2015. Travel Agent has its eye on Meghauli Serai, Chitwan National Park. This new safari lodge is born out of a partnership between bespoke tour company &beyond and Taj Hotels. Nestled in the Terai lowlands of Nepal, it is just a 20-minute flight from Kathmandu.
Chitwan offers guests a great setting for seeing rare animals, including the greater one-horned rhinoceros. There is also the opportunity to see tigers, leopards, sloth bears and other exotic animals. The lodge, on the banks of the Rapti River, has just 30 keys with 16 independent villas and one Presidential Suite. Guests who opt for the latter will have views of the Rapti River from a private deck. The suite and villas all have plunge pools and bathrooms with traditional Nepalese stone spouts.
During their stay, guests will have access to twice-daily Jeep safaris, which are driven by &beyond naturalists. There is also the option to spend the entire day in the park. Travelers can opt for elephant-back safaris and walking safaris as well. This new property welcomes families as well as couples.
Chitwan National Park is one of four UNESCO World Heritage sites in Nepal, along with Sagarmatha National Park, Kathmandu Valley (including Bhaktapur, regarded as the country’s cultural capital, with history dating to the eighth century) and Lumbini, the Birthplace of the Lord Buddha.
