Reach out, either via email or with a phone call, and let clients know when their favorite destinations go on sale. Saving money can be the best reason to get clients to book a trip during a set period of time. American Airlines Vacations is one example of a tour operator that is offering its own version of March Madness with its biggest sale of the year for domestic and international travel through Jan. 31, 2018 (with certain blackout dates.) Travelers need to book their travel from March 2-22, 2017 to get deals that range from $50 to $400 off, plus 2,500 to 10,000 AAdvantage® bonus miles. (Minimum stays and spends can apply.)

 

  1. Make it Easy

Work with tour operators that offer a long choice of a la carte options so you can easily customize the perfect all-inclusive vacation based on your clients’ wishes. It can be one-stop-shopping for air, car rental, sightseeing, and a range of hotel options for every budget—even luxury hotels and resorts. Offer two to three options in an email to clients and they’ll be motivated to book by the options presented.

 

  1. Add On for More Commission

Don’t forget that tour operator packages can be more than the basics. Some tour operators allow you to add on to clients’ itineraries with such activities as salsa lessons in Miami, a “skip the line” small group tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and day trips and excursions in Hawaii that can include ziplining, helicopter tours and birdwatching. Use these activities as more ways to get clients to envision the perfect vacation, close the sale and boost your commissions!

Stay in close contact with your preferred tour operators to learn not only about upcoming sales, but also opportunities for free travel and ongoing contests, sweepstakes, and promotions.
