While it's no secret that Millennials are heavy users of social media, the platforms they use are increasing in number, according to MMGY Global's 2015 Portrait of American Travelers

While Facebook remains the most popular social media network among all travelers, Millennials have begun to fragment their attention across a braoder set of go-to websites and apps, such as Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram. In fact, significantly more Millennials in 2015 are active on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest or Tumblr than in 2013.

Not only are Millennials on more social media networks, but they are also using social media as an intrinsic part of their travel experience. Half of Millennials like using social media to share a record of their travel experiences, and a third admit to showing their vacation photos on social media to make their friends and family jealous. Travel marketers can leverage this insight by creating innovative photo opportunities throughout the travel experience to facilitate the sharing of these special moments with friends and family in real time.
