State Department Issues China Travel Alert

The U.S. State Department has issued a travel alert to U.S. citizens residing or traveling in China due to flood threats for over 25 major rivers. U.S. citizens are being advised to monitor local weather reports and use caution when traveling.

In the past two months the flood fatalities have reached over 1,000 throughout Shaanxi, Sichuan and Henan provinces.

Travelers are also recommended to carry extra food, water and medicine as a precaution. The travel alert will expire October 15.
