Amadeus Unveils Travena for Agents

Amadeus reports the launch of Amadeus Travena, the travel industry’s first fully web-based booking solution for travel agents that will enable them to run their businesses and serve their clients, anywhere, anytime.

Amadeus Travena was launched to the North American marketplace at the 2011 Travel & Retailing Destination Expo, the American Society of Travel Agents’ (ASTA) annual conference in Las Vegas, marking the beginning of the solution’s global rollout and ongoing evolution over the coming months.

“Amadeus Travena was built for travel professionals, by travel professionals. We listened closely to what travel agents told us they needed to boost their productivity, access critical  content, and better compete in the marketplace,” said Scott Gutz, president and CEO of Amadeus North America. “ This new solution combines powerful features, customization capabilities, and online convenience with extensive travel content to help agents demonstrate their difference and win in tomorrow’s travel arena.”

Because it’s an online solution, agents will be able to access Amadeus Travena via a web browser from a range of devices including PCs, laptops and tablets, Amadeus says. Agents will simply log on for secure, easy access to fully-integrated Amadeus content – air, hotel, rail, car, cruise, tour and more – for “anywhere, anytime” use. This Web-based solution also allows for quick deployment of new content and functionality from Amadeus.

As it continues to evolve, Amadeus Travena will also be highly customizable with an intuitive workflow that can be tailored to an agency’s unique processes and business objectives, Amadeus says. Agencies will be able to set preferences and rules to access Amadeus Travena the way they want, as well as optimize content, features, and interactions to maximize their productivity.

Additionally, with Amadeus Travena, travel content can be integrated from wide variety of third-party booking applications, allowing agents to save time and improve service by using the same interface for all booking and itinerary tasks.

Amadeus Travena also meets agents on their own terms, the company says. The unique, patent-pending “Cryptic Magic” feature converts cryptic commands from any GDS into a graphical interface, delivering the best of both worlds to the agency desktop. This dual-mode feature enables agents to use Amadeus Travena based on their GDS expertise and overall work preferences while minimizing training time and increasing booking speed and productivity.

“Amadeus Travena is easy to access on the Web, yet it is designed with my needs as a travel professional in mind,” said Pia Hanlon-Olsen, president of Florida-based Beyond and Back Travel, an agency pilot for the new solution. “I’m constantly on the go and need to immediately respond to my customers’ wishes wherever I happen to be. I also want my agents to be fully productive from day one. Amadeus Travena allows me to make optimal use of my time and will save me money.”

Deployment of Amadeus Travena in the U.S. and Canada will begin later this year, Amadeus says. Amadeus Travena is designed to continue to evolve in phases, with new functionality already scheduled for delivery throughout 2012.  This will allow travel agency customers to easily adopt and adapt, as new Amadeus enhancements and features are quickly and easily delivered via the web-based platform.

Amadeus Travena is the latest addition to Amadeus’ portfolio of business and booking solutions for travel agencies in North America which includes Amadeus Agenta, Amadeus Vacation Link, Amadeus Selling Platform, and Amadeus One.
