Suspects Arrested in Thailand for the Murder of Australian Travel Agent

Two men have been arrested in Thailand for the murder of Australian travel agent, Michelle Smith.

According to ABC News, Thai Police made the arrests following a tip-off from an informant who identified the suspects after police released sketches of them to the media.

Smith, 60, a travel agent from Perth, Australia, was fatally stabbed in a street robbery in Phuket, Thailand last week, according to PerthNow.

The mother of three was walking with a friend near their hotel in Kata Noi Bay when they were attacked by two men. "The men had circled the pair several times before attempting to steal their handbags and lashing out with a knife when they couldn't grab them," the article reports. The second woman suffered a slash to the arm, but has survived.

The two women were part of a 10-person group of agents visiting Phuket on a FAM trip, organized by Asia Escape Holidays, reports Hospitality Portal.

The two suspects are being flown to Phuket.
