Pleasant Holidays' Jack E. Richards Talks Focus on the United States

Jack E. Richards, President and CEOLast week we told you about Pleasant Holidays' first sales brochure on the United States. We followed up with Jack E. Richards, president and CEO of the company, to talk about its development, what distinguished Arizona, California, Florida and Nevada as their select destinations, and what agents can look forward to in the future.

Pleasant Holidays' concentration on the United States originated in traveler preferences. Following up on its history of continental U.S. sales for Hawaii-origin travelers, the company focused on Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other cities "for travelers who may want to stay closer to home and who do not wish to fly internationally," Richards said.

Arizona, California, Florida and Nevada made the first cut for their place among the company's history, according to Richards. "Pleasant Holidays has a 50-year history of offering sun and beach destinations, so these four states complement our current portfolio of Hawaii, Caribbean, Mexico, Tahiti and Costa Rica," Richards said. "In addition to viewing these as main vacation destinations, we also expect travelers will book pre and post stays at these U.S. resorts when traveling to other Pleasant Holidays’ destinations. We have focused on upscale and luxury resorts including those located on the beach; near family-friendly attractions; or offering a variety of casino gambling, golf, or spa and wellness options, which are available in all four states in phase one of our program.”

Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa in Palm Springs, CaliforniaWorking with travel agents, Pleasant Holidays received research and feedback highlighting potential for this market. Into 2011, expect to see destinations including New York, Boston, New Orleans, San Antonio, Texas, Washington, D.C., Chicago and more beach cities in Florida.

The brochure's picks include California's Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa in Palm Springs and St. Regis Monarch Beach in Orange County. Also not to be overlooked, check out The Tides South Beach in Florida and The Resort at Pelican Hill, also in Orange County.
