Recently Las Vegas has seen a flurry of new developments in its booming live show scene. Here are some quick tips on what to watch out for.
Britney Spears' Las Vegas Show Adds New Dates
Due to its popularity, "Britney: Piece of Me," Britney Spears' two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, has added another round of show dates.
Additional performances have been added in August and September, as well as shows in October and November, New Year's Eve weekend and February 2015.
The Venetian Las Vegas Announces Female-Focused Comedy Series
In terms of new shows, The Venetian Las Vegas recently announced LIPSHTICK – THE PERFECT SHADE OF STAND UP, a newly branded resident comedy series that the resort says marks the first time in Las Vegas history that the comedy stage will be taken exclusively by female performers.
The new series will debut July 11 with appearances by daytime television personality Wendy Williams and will bring regular stand-up comedy performances to The Sands Showroom from an opening slate of 14 comediennes.
PANDA! at The Palazzo Las Vegas
"PANDA!" at The Palazzo Las Vegas is the first Chinese-produced show to take up a long-term residency on the Las Vegas Strip. The show, which opened in December 2013, offers acrobatic stunts and visual effects based on the myths and legends of China. The show is produced by the same team behind the 2008 Beijing Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, and is aimed at promoting Chinese culture abroad.
William Shatner to Perform One-Man Show at MGM Grand Las Vegas
MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will host William Shatner for a three-night engagement when he performs his one-man show "Shatner's World: We Just Live In It" June 19 – 21 at the Hollywood Theatre.
The show, which was launched in April 2011 in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, opened on Broadway in 2012 and has been performed in more than 50 cities in the United States.
