CIE Tours Announces First-Ever River Cruises for 2020

CIE Tours is expanding its offerings to include its first-ever River Cruise Collection, with sailings on the Rhine and Danube Rivers. Launching in 2020, the eight-day river cruise itineraries include a one-way "Rhine Cruise to Switzerland," traveling from Cologne to Basel, and a round-trip "The Blue Danube" from Budapest to Linz.

Tour itineraries include:

  • Rhine Cruise to Switzerland: Setting sail from Cologne, travelers can explore palaces and medieval villages while also taking in views of the Rhine Gorge, the Black Forest and Swiss Alps. The itinerary includes stops in Koblenz, Rüdesheim, Speyer, Strasbourg, Breisach, Titisee, Lucerne and Basel. Additionally, guests can enjoy a Captain’s Dinner one night, which will showcase cuisine from each region the cruise passes through. Fares begin at $1,969 per person.
  • The Blue Danube: This cruise takes guests through three historic capitals—Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna. Guests can venture through castles to quiet abbeys, fortresses to gardens, and ancient villages to cities. From Linz, guests have the option of a guided walking tour of Salzburg, whose architecture served as the backdrop for The Sound of Music. Among the onboard highlights of this cruise is a private recital by a Viennese string quartet. Fares begin at $1,559 per person.

Onboard both cruises, guests are accommodated in spacious suites with en-suite bathrooms and river views. Dining options range from an early risers’ breakfast to midnight snacks, as well as tea and coffee in cabin. Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship. Other on-ship amenities include optional massages, steam and sauna, a nail and hair salon, fitness room and a heated sun-deck plunge pool.

Additionally, CIE Tours will give North American travelers a $300 air credit per couple for 2020 river cruise reservations made by September 30, 2019.
