Emerald Waterways’ First LGBT Cruise Will Be on Danube River

Emerald Waterways has announced its first-ever LGBT river cruise, set to sail on the Danube river. 

The eight-day LGBT Danube Explorer sailing will depart Budapest on July 29, 2017, and includes stops in Bratislava, Vienna, and Passau before concluding in Nuremberg. The sailing, which starts at $2,545 per person per double, includes a free premium drinks package, which provides guests with beer, wine, cocktails, and soft drinks throughout the sailing.

The itinerary will have LGBT-themed tours in Vienna and Budapest, a gay film festival in the onboard cinema, and an LGBT quiz night. Additional onshore excursions can include visits to three UNESCO World Heritage sites, a traditional lunch with a Slovakian family, a classical concert in a Viennese palace, and an excursion to Salzburg, the home of the Sound of Music

The hosts of the U.K. radio station, Gaydio, will broadcast live onboard the ship for three days during the sailing.

Guests who book the LGBT Danube Explorer by October 31 will receive airfare for just $495 from 22 select gateway cities, as well as a reduced deposit of $250 (from $500).
