Find Eco-Certified Hotels for Earth Day

Travelzoo Inc., has published a collection of outstanding eco-certified hotel deals in honor of Earth Day's 40th anniversary. A national survey found 91 percent of travelers prefer to stay at an eco-certified hotel given that the price and amenities are comparable to a non-certified hotel. In response to the survey findings, Travelzoo's Earth Day hotel deals page features offers from only LEED-certified hotels (the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

"While our eco-travel survey reports more travelers are becoming environmentally-conscious, the survey also reveals 22 percent of travelers do not stay at green hotels due to the cumbersome process of researching hoteliers' eco-practices," said Gabe Saglie, senior editor at Travelzoo. "An additional 22 percent said it is difficult to find green hotels within their budgets. In response to the survey results, our global team of deal experts published a list of Travelzoo test-booked hotel deals from LEED-certified properties."

Travelzoo and LEED hold hotels to the highest quality standards by each using a comprehensive verification process. Travelzoo deal experts source, independently research, test-book, and select offers professionally to confirm their true value for consumers. LEED evaluates hotels for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality to ensure a whole-building approach to sustainability. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification for environmentally responsible hotels.

In addition to 91 percent of consumers interested in staying at LEED-certified hotels, 50 percent of consumers said their financial situations will not allow them to spend more money on a LEED-certified hotel. Travelzoo's Earth Day hotel deals page enables consumers to book a green-certified hotel without spending too much green.
