Finnair Business Flyers to Receive In-Flight Tablets

AirplaneFrequent Business Class fliers will be interested in Finnair’s two month etertainment trial period, on board their Airbus A330, where passengers receive HP Windows 8 Tablets and wireless internet service.  The aircrafts will come through New York City’s JFK Airport during the trial, which begins today.

Passengers who fly Business Class on scheduled flights or Comfort Class on charters are offered the tablet upon boarding, and asked to participate in a post-flight survey to summarize their thoughts on the experience.  The tablet is equipped with movies, TV shows, music, games, and wellness related programs such as a relaxation app to help cope with the time change.

Peter Gabrielsson, vice president of customer experience for Finnair, says they are most interested in “learning how the use is divided between the fixed in-flight entertainment system and the tablet.”

Finnair specializes in fast connections between Europe and Asia via Helsinki, thus business travel is a key market for them.  Their partners in the test include Nordkapp, responsible for interface visual design, OnAir, providing satellite communications and onboard Wi-Fi service, and Spafax, for audio and visual content.
