First Foreign-Owned Travel Agencies in China Open

Peter DanfordUpon joining the World Trade Organization, China was required to open its market to travel agencies entirely owned and operated by foreigners. Cleveland native Peter Danford owns and operates the first in The China Guide/Beijing Freedom Travel Agency, specializing in private custom itineraries.

Since its opening, the travel agency has been cooperating with Chinese travel agencies for several years. Online, the agency's website features photography, information and travel itineraries developed by Danford and his staff.

Danford said, "Now that we are a fully operational travel agency we are able to deliver complete travel services, the same as any Chinese owned travel agency. Additionally we are allowed to hire foreigners to work on our staff which is a big boost to quality and service.
