Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide reports its award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program is offering its members direct access to the US Open, which begins on August 29 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.  Starting today, SPG members can bid Starpoints on a variety of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including premium luxury suite seating, a VIP reception with match tickets, a private tennis clinic with tennis pro James Blake, behind-the-scenes tours and access to Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day presented by Hess.

“Through our US Open sponsorship, SPG is offering an incredible line-up of US Open experiences so members can connect with their passion for world-class tennis in the company of family and friends,” said Chris Holdren, Senior Vice President of Starwood Preferred Guest. “By enjoying the US Open the SPG way, members can transform their Starpoints into memories they will treasure for a lifetime.”

Westin Hotels, Starwood’s wellness brand, is the official hotel sponsor for the 2011 US Open Tennis Championships. Westin says it is the only hotel brand to sponsor the US Open and US Open Live, where fans can watch live streaming of matches in progress on usopen.org.  During the Championships fans can also take advantage of special packages available at The Westin New York in Times Square and The Westin Jersey City Newport.

To celebrate the start of the tournament, Starwood Preferred Guest is launching a Kickoff Sweepstakes. SPG members who register at SPG.com/USOpenSuiteSweeps will earn one chance to win a number of prizes for each night they stay at a Starwood property from August 2 through August 29. Ten grand prize winners will win a pair of tickets to the SPG Luxury Suite for the Women’s Singles Semifinals on Friday, September 9.

SPG members can transform Starpoints into a variety of exclusive US Open experiences through the SPG Moments program. A limited number of luxury suite tickets are available for 35,000 Starpoints, and bidding starts at just 1,000 Starpoints for the chance to win a private tennis clinic with James Blake, a US Open broadcast booth and press room tour, behind-the-scenes Arthur Ashe Stadium tour and much more.

Starwood says its groundbreaking SPG Moments program launched in 2007, and since then thousands of members have transformed their Starpoints into extraordinary lifestyle events. SPG members have gained insider access to red carpet movie premieres, live concerts by top artists, championship sporting events, private dinners with world-renowned chefs and more.
