Tauck Celebrates 90th Anniversary

Tauck recently celebrated its 90th anniversary with a gathering for the Tauck family, company employees, board members and key partner-suppliers at Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies.

Nearly 500 people attended the event, which ran February 6 - 9 and was centered around the theme of “Celebrate 90. Imagine One Hundred.”

Other 90th anniversary initiatives launching this year include a virtual Tauck Time Capsule on the company's website. Arrayed in the form of a timeline, the Time Capsule has been pre-populated by Tauck with key milestones in the company’s history. Tauck guests, travel agents and employees, however, can also enter their own personal recollections from past trips, pegging their story to the year in which it occurred and uploading a photo to accompany their recollection.

Tauck also used the Chateau Lake Louise gathering to formally launch its “Where in the World is Arthur Tauck?” photo project. The company is taking a photo of founder Arthur Tauck Sr. on itineraries around the world and inviting guests to capture images of him in fun and unusual places. The images captured will ultimately be collected in a scrapbook highlighting Arthur’s “travels” and posted on Tauck’s website.

27-year-old Arthur Tauck Sr. launched the eponymous tour company in 1925. An entrepreneurial inventor and traveling salesman, Tauck brought his first paying guests along on an 1,100 mile sales trip through New England. Tauck offered commentary and pointed out the sights to his passengers as they traveled each morning, and made sales calls each afternoon while his guests enjoyed the facilities at the resort hotel where they’d spend that night.

Today, Tauck offers over 100 land tours, European river cruises and small ship ocean cruises to more than 70 countries and all seven continents.
