Tauck Launches 2013 'Exotics' Offers

Trips to Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Australia and Antarctica are among the features of Tauck's officially  launched 2013 booking season. Tauck reports its new “Exotics” brochure has sent to agents and highlights the debut of Tauck’s 2013 Gift of Time offer. Among the innovations are four new Exotics trips and the addition of complimentary in-room internet access to all land journeys.

“Along with our European river cruises, our Exotics portfolio has consistently been one of the fastest-growing areas of our business,” said Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. “Equally important, our Exotics trips generate strong profits for those agents who sell them aggressively.”

According to Mahar, the trips in Tauck’s Exotics collection are premium-quality, “bucket list” itineraries that carry a higher average price, and therefore pay higher agent commissions.

Mahar noted a second reason why Tauck’s Exotics journeys are worthy of agents’ focus.

“Trips to places like Africa and China attract clients who otherwise might never consider a travel agent or a tour operator. So, they bring new customers to agents, along with the real potential for repeat Tauck business,” concluded Mahar. He also added that over 50 percent of Tauck’s business each year is comprised of repeat guests.

Agents can further encourage repeat Tauck business with the company’s Gift of Time offer, Tauck says. "This unique gesture provides returning Tauck guests with more of what they seek in their travels – time in their destination of choice – by letting them extend their 2013 journey with a complimentary hotel night. Guests can choose to redeem their free night at either the beginning or end of their Tauck journey, at the hotel normally featured on the first or last night of their itinerary."

The complimentary Gift of Time hotel night is offered on all 2013 departures of Tauck’s land tours, river cruises and ocean cruises, and it is available only to returning Tauck guests. The offer does not apply to Tauck Events. Other conditions apply.

For 2013 Tauck reports it is also adding complimentary in-room internet access to each of its nearly 80 land journeys. The new initiative provides Tauck guests with free in-room internet access in each Tauck hotel where internet connectivity is available.

“For 87 years, Tauck has specialized in providing all-inclusive access to our guests,” said Mahar. “Providing yet another form of ‘access’ – Internet access – and including it in the price of our land journeys, is a natural extension of what we do, and it’s something our guests have asked for.”

Tauck’s 2013 collection of Exotics journeys includes 28 land and cruise itineraries, ranging from Egypt to Antarctica, and from Turkey to Tanzania. Next year the company will introduce four new Exotics trips:
