American Airlines plans to establish a codeshare agreement with El Al Israel Airlines. The carrier has filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin the partnership on February 1, 2008. Pending approval, American would place its code on El Al flights to Tel Aviv from New York Kennedy, Newark, Miami and Los Angeles, as well as from such European points as London Heathrow, Paris, Madrid, Zurich and Rome. El Al, meanwhile, would place its "LY" code on certain domestic American flights out of Kennedy, Newark, Miami, Los Angeles and Toronto, plus select American flights between the U.S. and London, Paris, Madrid, Zurich and Rome. Approval of the plan would formalize the frequent flyer program relationship the two airlines already share. Visit www.aa.com. (JM)
